Update invite

PUT/v2/invites/{invite_id}

Updates an invite.

Returns the updated invite.

Only pass in the fields you want to change. To clear project_ids or pay_rate, send the value ‘none’.

Available roles:

  • organization_manager - Invited as an organization manager
  • project_manager - Invited as a project manager
  • project_user - Invited as a project user
  • project_viewer - Invited as a project viewer

If no project_ids are set, any project_* role will default to project_viewer (no projects assigned).

Note: Accepted invites cannot be updated.

Create invite

POST/v2/organizations/{organization_id}/invites

Creates a new invite.

Returns the created invite.

Note: If there is an account for the email in Hubstaff, the invite will be auto accepted. Note: There is a rate limit on how many invites you may create.

Available roles:

  • organization_manager - Invited as an organization manager
  • project_manager - Invited as a project manager
  • project_user - Invited as a project user
  • project_viewer - Invited as a project viewer

If no project_ids are set, any project_* role will default to project_viewer (no projects assigned).

Bulk invite users

POST/v2/organizations/{organization_id}/invites/bulk

Creates multiple invites at once (max 50 per request).

Returns a summary with counts of successful, failed, and rate-limited invites, along with detailed results.

Invites are processed sequentially. Individual failures don’t stop remaining invites. If rate limit is exceeded, processing stops and remaining invites are marked as rate-limited.

Available roles:

  • organization_manager - Organization manager with manager access to specified projects
  • project_manager - Organization user with manager access to specified projects
  • project_user - Organization user with user access to specified projects
  • project_viewer - Organization user with viewer access to specified projects

Common failure reasons:

  • validation_error - Invalid email format or other validation issues
  • create_action_error - Business rule violations (already member, plan limits, blacklisted user)
  • rate_limited - Rate limit exceeded during processing
  • system_error - Unexpected system errors

Note: Invalid project IDs are automatically filtered out. Emails are automatically lowercased.
